CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-540, a special election shall be held on November 7, 2023 in the City of Emerson to fill the vacancy in the office of City Council, caused by the resignation of Stephen Bo Jordan.
Qualifying for the special election shall be held at Emerson City Hall which is located at 700 Highway 293, Emerson, GA between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm from August 21, 2023 until August 23, 2023. The qualifying fee shall be $25.00.
All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election may register to vote through October 10th. Advance Voting will be held at the Bartow County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office between Monday and Friday from October 16th until November 3rd and will also include both Saturday, October 21st and October 28th. The first day absentee ballots will be distributed through the mail is October 16th and the last day to request a ballot through the mail is October 27th. The Emerson Polling Place will be open from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm on Election Day.
Should a runoff election be required, such runoff will be held on Tuesday, December 5th.
